Support the RNLI
CSMA Club together with our Partner LV=Frizzell has supported the RNLI since 1984. In that time we have raised over half a million pounds to fund equipment for the use by RNLI lifeboat crew and lifeguards across the UK, including several rigid inflatable lifeboats and a lifeguard inshore rescue boat, transport lorries, launching tractors and rescue watercraft.
Funds are raised from competitions in the CSMA Club Magazine, collection boxes at CSMA Club events, CSMA Club Leisure Retreats and the generosity of CSMA Club members. Visit our current competition now»
The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. They provide a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service around the coasts of the UK and RoI, as well as a seasonal lifeguard service on many of the busiest beaches in England and Wales.
The RNLI also works to promote sea and beach safety.
Some crew members and most lifeguards are full time. They work with other staff to ensure comprehensive safety coverage around our islands. The RNLI is an independent charity with a board of volunteer trustees.Volunteers are the heart of the RNLI. They rely on more than 40,000 volunteers - on lifeboats, at stations, on beaches, and in fundraising.
For every £1 given to the RNLI:
- 81p is spent on providing a rescue service
- 3p is spent on preventative safety programmes
- 16p is spent on generating voluntary income
CSMA Club Projects
Our current project is a Mobile Training Unit. This will be used nationally to deliver essential RNLI First Aid training to lifeboat crew and lifeguards, giving CSMA Club/LV=Frizzell considerable exposure. The Mercedes vehicle costs £21,000 and the first aid training kit £6,000.
It is vital that training is provided for RNLI volunteer crews and lifeguards with the least possible disruption to their jobs and family commitments. For this reason, training is not only delivered in Poole at the RNLI College but is also provided around the coast by mobile training units (MTUs). MTUs spend all but a few weeks of the year on the road delivering essential RNLI First Aid training locally for both lifeboat crew and lifeguards.
An MTU is a fully kitted Mercedes Vito van modified to carry all required First Aid and teaching materials.

In 2008 the RNLI recognised the support we have given them by awarding us their Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented to the then Charity Co-ordinator, Tony Richardson, by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall.
Last year CSMA/LV=Frizzell helped to support the expansion of the RNLI Lifeguard service to the Merseyside area, funding a lifeguard patrol vehicle to be used on the beaches near Sefton.
"As many of you will know, the RNLI has taken on more and more responsibility and is now helping and protecting people on the shoreline, as well as out to sea. The monies raised by CSMA Club members in recent years has enabled the RNLI to purchase specialist vehicles to support their Lifeguards who are now providing a really valuable service on many of our beaches.
I hope, even in these difficult times, that CSMA Club members will continue to support this worthwhile cause. Such financial assistance is crucial if the RNLI is to provide the essential equipment and training to the many brave and unpaid volunteers on which the service depends”.
Geoff Eteson, Vice Chairman of CSMA Club.
