CSMA Club Conference
The Club is hosting a conference of members to see how it can help more members get active in their local Groups. We need your help! Attending the Conference will be a great opportunity to meet fellow members, senior Club officers and most importantly to help shape the future direction of your Club.
The Conference will be held at Hellidon Lakes Hotel, Hellidon near Daventry on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th April 2012.
While we hope it will be fun and engaging, it is a working Conference so please be prepared for a busy schedule. The weekend will be a mixture of plenary conference and workshops. Accommodation at the venue will be provided and reasonable travelling expenses will be reimbursed.
If you feel you would like to contribute and attend the Club Conference please contact us. Places are limited so please register your interest and we can send you an information pack and invitation to apply.

Our Club
CSMA Club prides itself on being just that; a Club. A place where a community of members can meet up and share the activities they are passionate about. So not only can they enjoy all the great benefits and offers from our many, varied Approved Partners, but they can really feel part of a Club by joining one of the local Groups spread around the country.
At the moment, there are over 40 local Groups going strong, run by volunteers who organise great events and evenings for all of our members to enjoy. The explosion of social media means that people are seeing each other in person less and less but with our events ranging from games nights to weekends away, these activities offer the member the chance to get together and socialise. We want to keep the Club fresh and exciting, so have spent time finding out what you, the members, want.
Project AIM
This is the essence of a new project, called Project AIM, designed to help us get more members involved in our Club. By involvement we mean members who are actively participating in the Club’s activities - they don’t simply attend the Club’s events and social groups, they also organise and run these activities themselves. From this pool of actively involved members we aim to identify our Club leaders and Board members of the future.
We believe it is essential that we regenerate the Club and grow its membership, as it’s at the heart of what we do. We are a club for our members, run by our members. However, we need to ensure we do this in a way that meets our members’ needs and expectations. This is exactly what Project AIM seeks to do.
What has happened so far
We started scoping the project in November 2010 by hosting a conference
where we brought together members from all of the Active Club communities - the
Council, the Board, special interest groups and local groups - to discuss the
way forward for the Active Club. From the information gathered at this
conference, we launched Project AIM. We then invited local Groups to apply to
take part in a pilot scheme.
Five local groups in Farnborough, Leeds, Northumberland, Peterborough and
Shropshire were selected for a market research programme designed to find out
what types of activities members in each area would be interested in taking
part in.
Based on the results of this research, we have been working together with the five Groups to help create and promote events and other social activities programmes which are of interest and importance to them.
