Sean McGreevy gets in the driving seat of the Citroën C4 in the October issue
There’s a multi-million pound global industry devoted to the pursuit of happiness. With the new C4, a car whose arrival is being heralded with enthusiastic claims about its ‘positive power,’ Citroën appears to be jumping on that particular bandwagon.
A closer inspection reveals that the C4 is no automotive mind guru after all, but instead the latest in the French marque’s rapidly growing reputation for stylish innovation in engineering and design.
If the old C4 was a good-looker, this generation’s model is all curves and flowing lines, topped off with a large chrome chevron grille. The cabin area design has plenty of French flair with soft-touch materials and chrome detailing.
The new C4 been awarded the maximum five-star rating by Euro NCAP for safety, has a massage function and helpful extras including a blind-spot monitoring system, speed limiter and cornering light. So the new C4 may not be life changing but it should prove to be a positive performer for the French brand.
