Huge global poll votes London best city in the world
London has earned the highest reputation rating in a poll of 35,000 people in 15 countries.
Judged on the amount of trust, esteem, admiration and good feelings people have towards it, plus 13 criteria relating to the economy, administration and general appeal, it was voted the best out of 100 cities worldwide.
London was followed closely by Geneva and Sydney, while the likes of New York and Hong Kong trailed far behind in 25th and 46th places respectively.
‘The study shows that a strong city reputation requires hard work across many different areas,’ said Nicolas Trad, Executive Partner at the Reputation Institute which carried out the survey.
‘Having cultural appeal or being an international business hub is simply not enough.’
The Institute said the news would be particularly welcomed by London as it gears up for the 2012 Olympic Games.
