Pet passengers
It’s important to think of your pet’s safety too out on the road
‘Keeping ears, paws and noses inside the vehicle while the car is moving’ is the advice from the charity Dogs Trust. They’ve teamed up with Confused.com to give advice to pet owners – since so many of us like to take our dog or cat along in the car.
But the tips aren’t all about safety. Our furry friends, we’re told, like listening to the radio while on the move, with Radio 1 the top choice for in-car pet entertainment, closely followed by Radio 2 and 5 Live. Take note, too, pet-owners, before you select a CD. Adele, Madonna and Lady Gaga are apparently the most popular artists among pets in transit (so if you prefer a spot of Beethoven or Bach, we guess you’re out of luck).
On a more sober note, while there is currently no law that stipulates a dog must be restrained when travelling in a vehicle, the Dogs Trust / Confused.com survey claimed that almost 10% of pet owners admit to having a near miss when driving, because of their animal’s behaviour in the car. Which does rather suggest that a car harness or dog-guard is a must. Then at least you can feel safe, while gritting your teeth to Lady Gaga.
