Standard breakdown cover
Standard breakdown cover is designed for drivers who prefer a service that begins a 1/4 of a mile from home and offers recovery throughout the UK. If the fault cannot be fixed by the end of the day when the breakdown happened, you, your vehicle and up to seven passengers will be driven to a UK destination of your choice.
Comprehensive breakdown cover
Comprehensive cover has been created for motorists who require a breakdown service that includes cover both at home and whilst on the road. When away from home, recovery will be to a destination of your choice throughout the UK. If you prefer not to be recovered, you can choose a hire car for use up to 48 hours*, have your accommodation costs paid up to a maximum of £500 or benefit from up to £100 onward travel expenses. If you break down at home** you’ll be assisted for problems like flat batteries or flat tyres and if LV= Britannia Rescue cannot get you going then they'll recover you to a local place of repair.
Deluxe breakdown cover
Deluxe cover includes all the benefits of Comprehensive cover plus cover when travelling in Europe.
You can extend your breakdown cover to include any vehicle you or your spouse/partner drive or travel in, within the UK. It's great if you have more than one vehicle, or sometimes drive other people's vehicles. You’ll also be given an extra membership card for your spouse/partner for no extra cost.
*Replacement car hire is subject to the conditions of the car hire company. See Breakdown Cover Policy Documents for more information. The minimum age of the driver must be 21 years.

Can I upgrade my LV= Britannia Rescue policy once it’s started?
Yes, you're able to upgrade your level of breakdown cover at any time. You can also add or remove personal cover, as well as change the vehicles covered. You're only able to reduce your level of cover at renewal or if your policy is within the first 14 days of receiving your breakdown cover documents.
What’s the benefit of having personal cover?
Breakdown cover alone will only cover the vehicle on your policy. By adding personal cover, you (and your spouse/partner at no extra cost) will be covered in any privately-owned vehicle in the UK, so if you often travel in other vehicles, it might be worthwhile considering adding personal cover to your breakdown policy. You can also add personal cover to any level of breakdown cover at any time during the life of your cover.
If I purchase Deluxe cover and want to travel abroad, which countries am I covered in?
If you have Deluxe European breakdown cover, your nominated vehicle is covered in the following countries in addition to the UK and Republic of Ireland:

I was recently travelling in Spain, when I had a suspension spring break and go through the tyre. I rang LV= Britannia Rescue for assistance. Within an hour I had been recovered to a local dealer and returned to my accommodation. During the repair process I was continually updated on progress, and was provided with a hire car for the duration, as well as a taxi to take me to and from the hire company and garage. Not only that, but as my Spanish is not great, all communication with the garage was conducted by LV= Britannia Rescue and their contractors. Fabulous service and enough to make me say to anyone travelling abroad with their car to ensure they have LV= Britannia Rescue Deluxe Cover.

Having driven to hospital for tests, I found myself admitted and unable to return home. I was faced with the dilemma of getting the car home having been told I would be in for some time.
I rang my wife and she contacted LV= Britannia Rescue who readily took details and arranged collection. No sooner had I received the recovery agent’s number, they were already at the hospital main entrance. I was not permitted to leave the ward, so the recovery agent had to make a long walk through a large hospital to collect the key, which he readily did.
Within an hour of my wife phoning the car was parked on our drive by a very helpful and pleasant recovery operator. A great service.

Following a difficult choice between the kerb or an oncoming idiot in Plympton St Maurice yesterday evening, I was compelled to seek recovery for the second time in some 30 years due to a destroyed tyre and damaged wheel rim. I was provided with an excellent response from both CSMA and the local Britannia Rescue agent, being recovered well within the hour and re-collected and delivered to a local repair facility the following morning in an even faster response time! Everyone involved was absolutely first rate and I would very much like to say thank you for what is, and always has been, a fantastic front line emergency response service staffed by friendly and helpful people. Well done indeed, keep it up!
