Cruise Guide

A cruise offers you the chance to see a selection of destinations all in one holiday without having to unpack and repack your suitcase.

Where can you go on a cruise?

There really are some amazing itineraries available with a wide range of cruise operators; our guide just highlights a small selection on offer.

What durations are available on cruises?

Cruise holidays are available in a range of durations depending on where you travel to and which cruise operator you sail with. You can take a standard 7 night cruise, or if you feel more adventurous and want to travel further afield you can cruise up to 101 nights. Or to give you a taste of what a cruise has to offer why not try a short cruise break between 2 and 5 nights. If you don’t fancy spending your whole holiday onboard ship then there are options to combine a 7 night cruise with a 7 night stay in a hotel.

Which ship is best to cruise on?

You can choose your ship to suit you and your party. Whether it is family-friendly, adults only, luxury cruising, informal cruising or even a cruise with a difference that you require.

What’s onboard a cruise ship?

You will find a wide variety of activities, entertainment, dining options and leisure facilities onboard most ships, including; gyms, pools, casinos, clubs, spa facilities, dance lessons and a choice of bars and restaurants to dine in.

What are the cabins like?

You can choose what type of cabin you stay in onboard ship, however the better the cabin the higher your holiday cost. Most ships have inside and outside cabins. If you want something a little extra special then consider a suite or even a balcony cabin for those many ships that have them.

What is the dress code?

Cruising is becoming more informal compared to a few years ago. During the day you can dress for the occasion like you would on a normal beach holiday. Then when it turns to dusk you can put on your smart but casual evening wear ready for dinner. You may also need to take an extra outfit for the captain’s dinner which entails the women wearing their best cocktail dress and the men putting on their dinner jackets and ties.

Is a cruise value for money?

Cruising is good value for money. All included in the price is your food, entertainment, accommodation, ship facilities (unless otherwise stated) and flights if you are not sailing from the UK. You also get your own cabin steward who will clean your cabin and make your bed every day and they even turn your bed down at night, making your stay extra special.
